// Colophon

This site keeps things plain

A personal portfolio. I keep the tracking low and try not to make the site feel noisy or over-managed.

// No profiling

No ads, no cross-site tracking, and nothing that tries to follow people around. If any logs are kept, they’re small and for basic development use.

The one counter on the home page tracks how many people are on the site and how many pages have been served. It’s a plain tally held in the site’s own cache and it expires on its own. Nothing about a visit is stored against a person.

// No third parties

Fonts are served from this domain rather than a font CDN, so loading a page doesn’t hand your address to anyone else. There are no analytics scripts, no embedded widgets, and no external requests on any page.

The commit count, the VoicesZA figures and the Stellar Drift player count on the home page are fetched by this server, a few times an hour, from public feeds. Your browser never contacts either one, and nothing about you is in the request. If you switch the keyboard shortcuts off, that choice is kept in your own browser and never sent anywhere.

// Data stays local

Where local tools or models are mentioned, I mean them to run on hardware people control. I prefer systems that stay local and don’t depend on a big remote stack.

// Cookies

Two, both functional: one remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme, and one is the session cookie Laravel uses to keep the contact form secure. Neither is used to identify you.
